Charity Fayre

Following the open meeting on 4th June in St James' to discuss ways of giving the Charity Fayre a new lease of life, the fayre, in its present form, has been running for many years and it has enjoyed great financial success, but in recent years the money has been significantly reduced. Difficulties have also been experienced in getting the commitment of others to help in the many areas that are needed before the big day to make it successful and this has put a strain on a few.

Various points of view on how we could improve were shared an other ideas put forward.  After considering all the suggestions it was agreed that the Charity Fayre would not take place this year and it its place a series of small events would be planned over the next twelve months starting in the autumn.  These would include a Bric-a-Brac, Books and Cake Sale in Church House, Entertainment from a local theatre company with a supper, Open Gardens and a Parish Garden Party at the Rectory.

Dates have to be arrange for these events but they will be widely advertised.  It is very important that we continue to come together as a Parish both for the social side and for the all important continued commitment to support Malawi, Church Urban Fund and other charities nominated.  If you were unable to attend the meeting and have any ideas that you would like to share on the fayre, Lorna Byrne would be delighted to hear from you.
